Bothnames collects nothing at all

The short version

Bothnames collects nothing. There is no account, no analytics and no advertising. Nothing you type or tap is sent anywhere, because the app has nowhere to send it. The one exception is the one-time unlock, which Apple handles — it is the only thing in the app that uses the network at all, and it carries nothing about you or your baby.

What stays on your phone

Your chosen countries, your boy/girl preference and your shortlist are stored only in the app's own storage on your device. They are never transmitted, and uninstalling the app deletes them.

Birth details are not stored at all

The date, time and time zone of birth you enter for the birth-star feature are held in memory only, for as long as that screen is open. They are never written to storage and are gone when the app closes — you will be asked for them again next time, by design. It is the most personal thing the app could hold, so it does not hold it.

The names database

Every name and meaning is bundled inside the app when you install it. Browsing, searching and matching never contact a server.

Children

Bothnames is intended for expectant parents, not for children. It collects no personal information from anyone, of any age.

Payment, and the only network call

Bothnames is free to install. The full birth chart, the ratna and the daily reading unlock with a single payment, once — never a subscription. Asking the store for the price, and making the purchase, is the only time this app uses the network. That exchange carries nothing about you or your baby: no names, no shortlist, no birth details. Your payment is handled entirely by the store you installed from; the app never sees your payment details, and the developer never receives them.

If you bought Bothnames when it cost money, you keep what you paid for. The unlock is granted automatically on update, with no purchase and no sign-in, and Settings will tell you so.

Changes and contact

If this policy ever changes, the updated version will ship with the app and appear on this page. Questions and corrections go to bothnames.help@gmail.com, or through the contact form inside the app under Settings.

You do not have to take this on trust. Put the phone into Airplane Mode and open Bothnames. All 16,423 names, every meaning, the matching and the birth star still work, because none of it was ever coming from a server — and once the chart is unlocked it is computed on the phone too, so it works in Airplane Mode as well. The only thing that needs a connection is the moment of buying. Apple's own privacy label on the App Store says the rest in its own words: Data Not Collected.
