Bothnames

Support

Write to bothnames.help@gmail.com and a person will read it.

There is also a contact form inside the app, under Settings → Contact the developer. It writes the message for you and hands it to your own mail app — nothing is sent from inside the app, because the app has no way to send anything.

A name is missing, or a meaning looks wrong

These are the most useful messages to send. Tell us the name, the country it should sit under, and what the meaning should say. Corrections ship in the next update for everyone.

The birth star needs details every time

That is deliberate. The date, time and time zone of birth are never saved — not to the app's storage, not anywhere — so they are cleared when you close the app. It is the most personal thing you could type into a baby-names app, so it is the one thing the app refuses to keep.

Why does it ask for a time zone rather than a city?

The nakshatra can change within an hour, so the calculation needs the real UTC offset at the moment of birth. Asking for the zone directly avoids guessing it from a place name and getting it wrong — which is what happens when an app offers a short list of cities and yours is not on it.

Can my partner use it on their own phone?

Matching is designed for one phone passed between two people, so there is nothing to buy twice and no account for either of you to create. You each swipe in private and the app only reveals the names you both liked.

I bought it and want a refund

Refunds are handled by the store you bought it from, not by us — Google Play or the Apple App Store, through your purchase history there. Write to us anyway if something is broken; we would rather fix it.

Does it work without internet?

It only works without internet. Every name and meaning is bundled in the app when you install it, and the app declares no network permission at all. See the privacy policy.
